The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in partnership with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) will offer a remote Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training on Thursday and Friday, May 23 and 24, from 8:00am to 12:30pm via Zoom.
This course, open to all Maine fruit and vegetable growers, will provide a foundation of produce farm food safety best practices, introduction to the FSMA Produce Safety Rule regulation, and details on how to develop a farm food safety plan required for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) audits. This course is one way farms subject to the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule can meet the requirement for at least one person on the farm to have produce food safety training.
The class is being offered for $25 to cover the cost of shipping the course materials. (The course fee is typically about $200 without funding assistance.)
Participants must be 14 years and older to receive the certificate of completion.
