The Maine Forest Service guide will feature a small sample of the forest insects and their kin that you might encounter in Maine.Your photos could be included in the guide! Visit Visit our iNaturalist project for more information on FIOME.Who: You, residents of and visitors to Maine, our project lead, consulting entomologist Caroline Kanaskie, and the FIOME work group, including representatives from the Maine Forest Service and the University of Maine. What: A pocket guide to forest insects to accompany your woods-worn Forest Trees of Maine or as a stand-alone resource, backed by rich online content. Where: Maine! With a peek at some insects outside our borders.When: Now and in the future.Your photos: now through next summer for potential inclusion in the guide (keep those shutters clicking throughout the year!). The iNaturalist project: available indefinitely, starting now, as an online resource to provide many views of the forest insects included in the guide from community scientists like you, along with some basic information on each species; a feature of iNaturalist species profiles.The guide: targeted to be in your hands in 2029. With supporting on-line resources in addition to the iNaturalist project.
