Board of Pesticides Control Public Hearing for Upcoming Rulemaking

The Eagle Lake Water & Sewer District (ELWSD) has petitioned the Board of Pesticides Control (BPC) to designate a critical pesticide control area within a 500-foot radius of its two public drinking water wellheads located on the western shore of Eagle Lake. The district seeks to protect these wellheads and prevent potential contamination of the public drinking water supply by inhibiting the use of pesticides in this area. There are no proposed changes currently, the purpose of this public hearing is to collect public comment related to the petition that may help the Board draft proposed rule

A public hearing is scheduled at the next hybrid public board meeting on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 9:00 AM in room 101 of the Deering at 90 Blossom Lane in Augusta and via Microsoft Teams. This hearing will give interested parties the chance to give public comment regarding the upcoming rule changes. The comment period for these amendments is open until July 29, 2024 at 11:59 PM. Additional meeting details will soon be posted on the BPC website
